Themes
Themes
Create a page discussing a theme from a favorite childhood story. Tell me the name of the story, and what theme is trying to be relayed. Afterwards tell me how you know this is a theme. In other words, what did the author write that makes you feel he is trying to entice you into thinking of this "theme" as a moral?
Example: The Three Little Pigs
One of the themes of this story is to always build your future on a firm foundation. I feel the author was trying to tell readers to always be prepared. He demonstrates this point by showing the cause and effects of having a poor foundation. He shows us that because the first 2 little pigs built their houses out of straw and wood they had a poor foundation and therefore when trouble came their way they could not withstand the wind. Their foundations were blown away by the pressures of life. The 3rd little pig planned and created a secure and safe foundation out of brick. When trouble (the wolf) came his way, his foundation stood fast.
Now it is your turn. Remember in order to find the theme or moral of a story, you have to be able to look beyond the words and get the "big" picture. Ask yourself, what is the author trying to tell me.

I agree with the theme that you got from "The Three Little Pigs". Build your future on a solid foundation. The author constructed the theme by showing how when the foundations of the first little pigs was weak the wolf was able to blow their houses down. In contrast, he showed that the 3rd pig built his house from bricks on a more secure foundation and was able to withstand the wolf and his wind. Another theme that could be pulled from this story is that one should always take their time and put in the extra effort when accomplishing a goal. I see this because if the first two pigs had of put in the hard work instead of playing all day they would have been able to withstand the wolf and his terror.

I also got that no matter what happens in life you are all ways going to have your family to come back to.I got that because he told them to stop playing but they didnt listen but he still let them in his house when came down to it.
ReplyDeleteI argee with the theme of The Three Little Pigs because building yourself a nice foundation could lead to a good things in life.the first two pigs build a lazy foundation and the wolf blow down there houses.The third pig was smart and builb a brick house.
ReplyDeleteOther theme I get from The Three Litte pigs is problem that dont go away.The aurthor show the theme by making the the problem and the three little pigs the people who are having to run from the problem that will not go away
